Sheila Oliner worked in St. Ives, Cornwall for more than twenty five years. Her work is figurative except for a brief period in the early 1960s. In the 1960s and 1970s her paintings were about women’s feelings and reactions to their position in domestic situations, their relationships, and the way in which they were viewed by society. Much of Sheila’s subject matter revolved around women’s lives, observing her own, her children’s, and friends’ experiences and attitudes. In more recent years since living in Cornwall, Oliner’s subject has been the Cornish landscape. Read St Ives Times Obituary written by Petronilla Silver, and The Guardian Obituary. Download CV
